Blue and White Porcelain: The Glory of Ayutthaya Period and The Qing Dynasty
The Ayutthaya period lasted for 417 years during which international trade and diplomatic relations flourished. Blue and white porcelain was emblematic of diplomatic relationship between Thailand and China. King Narai the Great reigned around the time of Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). The glory of arts occurred respectively under the Kangxi, Yongzheng, and Qianlong emperors reputed for their exceptional interest in blue and white porcelain and superior craftmanship.

Blue and white porcelains from the 17th-18th centuries were famed among avid collectors for its finest quality ever made.
Those excavated in Thailand travelled away from their main production site in Jingdezhen, China’s porcelain capital reaching its peak during the period of Kangxi. This city produced tremendous quantities of porcelains and exported to overseas including Thailand.
Blue and white ware from the Ayutthaya period was underglaze. The wide range of items included bowls, plates, and various types of containers.

This highlight is an exceptional covered jar. This distinguished trait was an embodiment of Thai style. Made by order and beautifully unique with its melon shape found in medium to large sizes which was not originally found in Chinese culture.
